Respectful language concepts and philosophy. Discussion of language and behavior as it relates to communicating respect for individuals with disabilities. Practical examples and anecdotes are discussed. Inclusion is also a topic explored within this training. This session is dynamic and discussion is shaped by classroom participants – it is designed to be a “round table” rather than a lecture. Participants should be prepared to share views and discuss concepts both within the field as well as beyond. Included in the training is a viewing of the critically acclaimed documentary “Including Samuel,” which speaks to the issues unique to the practice of inclusion in our culture. Due to the structure of this session, the class capacity is smaller than other trainings offered. If interest exceeds the limit for one class, additional sessions may be considered. *Note: Please provide an email address when you RSVP. There are some pre-reading materials for attendees to view prior to arriving for training, which will be sent to attendees via email.
