About Autism Vision of Colorado
Autism Vision of Colorado is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit located in Colorado Springs. We were founded in 2018 and are comprised of all volunteers. The mission is to educate the community on autism and autism awareness and create a safe place for individuals on the spectrum and their families to meet one another, support one another and advocate within the community. We work with families to link them to services and empower them on their journey. We believe that transparency is the key to communication within the community. Every voice should be heard and respected. All ideas are welcome. We are all volunteers and treat one another with respect and compassion. We do our own fundraising and do not rely on grants for funding. We also do not maintain an office which means all donations go directly to our programs.
We provide various support groups. Currently, we have a Moms Night Out, Morning Meet Up, Teen Social Group, Artists on the Spectrum and Adult Game Night. We also have various activities and events throughout the year such as our Carnival/ Resource Fair, Trunk or Treat, mini-golf, laser tag, hikes, baseball games, and the list goes on. These are either free or low cost to families. We also have a very active Facebook page for parents and the neurodiverse (no providers), Autism Vision of Colorado Community Group.
Sensory-Friendly Egg Hunt
April 12th will be our Sensory-friendly Egg Hunt. The event will run from 10:00am -12:00pm and is free for our neurodiverse families. The event will be outdoors at Heathercrest Park. You must sign up for a time slot (ONE TICKET PER FAMILY) through our registration page so we will have enough eggs and treats for everyone.
Our hunt is a little different than others. Each egg will have a symbol on it. Each child can find 12 filled eggs, one of each symbol. Once you are done hunting and have one of each symbol you will come to the table. There you will empty out the eggs and place the eggs in the recycle bin. The hunter can then exchange anything they don’t like at the treat bucket. After you finish this, be sure to get your surprise treat!
So, come on out for our Egg Hunt, activities or come out for our support groups. We would love to have you!
