TRE’s Enterprise Zone Capital Campaign
The Resource Exchange envisions a profound transformation in the landscape of opportunities for the disability community through a capital campaign rooted in our original mission of empowerment and community inclusion. Our campaign is centered on creating bridges between people impacted by disabilities in the workforce and gainful, meaningful employment. We aim to align personal values with financial stability, catalyzing a paradigm shift where inclusivity and dignity take the lead.
Capital Campaign Mission: Bridge the existing gap between the 12,000+ people we serve, their caregivers, and our community partner agencies that provide supported employment services.
Capital Campaign Goal: Raise $13 million by 12/31/2029 to pay off our remaining mortgage balance and renovate our coworking space, New Altitude.
In 1964, TRE was founded by parents and caregivers with a mission rooted in compassion and inclusion: everyone, regardless of abilities, deserves to thrive within their community. This vision transformed how people with disabilities were treated, kept families together, and paved the way for a more diverse and inclusive society — the core of our purpose to empower people, strengthen families, and build inclusive communities. 60 years later, we are serving 12,000+ people across four counties, and our mission remains solid. We want those with disabilities to thrive not just in their community, but in the workplace as well.
Bridging The Gap — Disability Inclusion In The Workforce
- One in four adults in the United States has some type of disability, yet despite wanting to work, people with disabilities are employed at a much lower rate than peers without disabilities. Put simply: we want to bridge this gap using our building as an employment hub and training ground for people with disabilities.
- Because The Resource Exchange partners with hundreds of agencies in El Paso County, this campaign will focus on our partnerships not only with 77 provider approved services agencies specifically equipped to help with workforce development but also local organizations who support our employment initiatives. These advocates center their efforts on diverse facets of the workforce, encompassing job placement and coaching, providing non-medical transportation to and from workplaces, and offering comprehensive training and resources to businesses that embrace the hiring of people with disabilities.
- When we are able to pay off our remaining mortgage and renovate the building, we will be able to truly utilize 6385 Corporate Drive as an asset for the community. Our space will provide substantial advantages for partner agencies serving as a valuable resource while also educating anyone who uses the building about the abilities of those working in the building.

Our Vision — Together, we can build a diverse, inclusive workplace of the future by:
- Enhancing our space to support more real-world opportunities. Our building currently houses several conference rooms suitable for a variety of events, such as chamber gatherings, board meetings, and business retreats. An upgrade to these spaces helps create additional opportunities for trainings, job coaching, and more. Meanwhile, a multi-million-dollar infusion of completed projects will leverage not only our prime location in a growing city but also draw partnerships with new and existing businesses.
- Connecting businesses with people with disabilities seeking employment as well as training people, building partnerships, sharing marketable skills, and supporting abilities of staff members.
- Cultivating an educated community on the benefits of an inclusive workplace. In our building, tenants actively work alongside and build relationships with people with disabilities. Our capital campaign aims to expand upon this dynamic and provide further education around disability inclusion in the workplace.
